We all know that sport is good. Physical activity benefits a wide range of people, and is essential in both prevention and treatment of common diseases. But sport can also has adverse effects and cause problems.
The point of this study was to figure out what kind of exercises were the most effective in reducing sport injuries rate.
25 trials including over 26000 participants and 3400 injuries were analysed.
When compared to stretching and proprioception, strength exercises represent the most favourable approach for both acute and overuse injuries.
It reduces sports injuries by ⅔
It reduces overuse injuries by almost 50%
So when it comes to chose a program that complements the sports you enjoy, always consider including some activity related strength exercises in it.
